Full council meeting 12 September 2018

A full report will follow, however in the meantime we will provide a slight flavor of some highlights.

At the start of the meeting Daniel Devlin appears to want audio recording to be banned in the public gallery.

Despite the meeting being web cast and that includes audio.

However he did not switch on his microphone whilst making the request.

Neither did he switch on his microphone when he was making comment during the meeting.

Annette Ireland was very animated and at one stage said that Cllr David Macdonald should stay in his ward.

Her inference, which we will reproduce was that he misread stats for the residents of Williamwood, Clarkston and Netherlee.

Perhaps this person should have a reality check.

Cllr David Macdonald is an elected member for Busby, Clarkston, Williamwood, Stamperland and Netherlee as she is.

Did the Director of the Environment reveal part of the consultants report to councillors that he allegedly trying to conceal from the public?

Unfortunately, the chairman Provost Fletcher did not insist microphones were switched on. A lot of what officials said was inaudible. Indeed the Director of Environment deliberately pushed their microphone away so not to be heard.

We are paying for this. We should demand better.

In addition Provost Fletcher restricted certain speakers.

We understand that Council standing orders permit cllrs a ten minute period to speak and address their colleagues.

Provost Fletcher, in our opinion harangued Cllr Swift and restricted him to only 4 minutes.

He commenced speaking at 1:17:32 and was required to end at 1:21:21

Cllr Macdonald was harassed on three occasions, however he managed to deliver what he intended to say despite Provost Fletchers undemocratic intervention.

Cllr Macdonald started to speak at 50:17 and ended at 58:46 despite being interrupted on three occasions by Provost Fletcher.

Annette Ireland showed her childishness on several occasions, the provost was in our opinion rude towards contributors etc.

As the Provost was welcoming everyone to the meeting he was interrupted by Daniel Devlin.

"Provost, Provost.

See before the meeting starts,

from the gallery.

anybody using video or audio equipment"

To which the provost replies "I was just going to say that, and then instructs that no member of the public should be recording as they have not requested permission nor has permission been given and if anyone has equipment switched on, they should switch it off.

To which Mr Devlin replies "Thanks".

Nine seconds into the meeting Cllr Daniel Devlin wants the public in the gallery to be told to not record audio or video of the meeting.

Chair Cllr Fletcher complies and issues that warning.

If you look at the web cast and listen to the words it does appear that Fletcher and Devlin were working to a prepared script with each other.

Also Devlin did not activate his microphone, therefore his words were not captured on the web cast, nor his face.

This meeting was being videoed and voice recorded by the council and broadcast live, why would Devlin and the Provost which to restrict the public who were present.

Is this because Devlin insists on making his comments off line and does not wish them to be made public.

Is this democracy Fletcher and Devlin style.

What next place the public behind a soundproof screen.

Supreme Leader Fletcher also attempts to restrict Cllr David Macdonalds presentation to the council and does restrict Cllr James Swifts'
