People power set to give Dunterlie in Barrhead a boost
PEOPLE are being asked to contribute ideas to improve the Dunterlie area of Barrhead.
East Renfrewshire Council has launched a project to develop an action plan for the area through community suggestions.
Over the coming months, residents will be able to take part in the Making Places Dunterlie project through a range of creative events to help shape a vision for the future of outdoor recreational space.
The project, which is funded by the Scottish Government and being led by independent consultants Pidgin Perfect, invites people of all ages to help come up with new ideas.
There are opportunities to replace and renew facilities surrounding the Dunterlie Resource Centre, create a more open and inviting atmosphere and explore introducing new facilities.
The first community drop-in event is set for Wednesday, March 13, from 6pm to 8pm, followed by a ‘celebration day’ on Saturday, March 23, from noon until 4pm.
Both events will take place at Dunterlie Resource Centre, in Stewart Street.
There is also an online survey available for those who want to have their say.
Councillor Colm Merrick, East Renfrewshire’s community services and community safety convener, said: “Dunterlie has terrific potential to be an accessible and exciting green space for all its residents and visitors.
“It already has an active and engaged community who provide vital support to local residents.
“Any redevelopment will put this community at its heart, so it is extremely important that the voices of the whole area are heard and listened to when designing its future.
“We are committed to reaching the best possible outcome for Dunterlie’s communities and I ask everyone in the area to please complete the survey and please also try to come along to one of our events. You will find them worthwhile.”
