"I will not tolerate any individual attempting to intimidate or harass anybody who is dropping off or collecting children or staff at this facility"

The full story unfolds.

This was posted on the elected members facebook page.

We are of the opinion that the Councillor is well out of order posting this on social media.

There are a number of reasons and one is the missing word 'ALLEGED'.

In our opinion the councillors post is irresponsible.

He appears to have acted as a judge, jury and executioner.

Has he accepted that a 'man' who lives on 'Hawthorn Road, Busby' has acted in manner that is unacceptable, we would have to suggest that this must be 'alleged' behaviour.

The only person who can make a decision as to whether behaviour was unacceptable is a Sheriff.

Only after witnesses have been heard, and evidence led, and then the defense can progress.

What happened to 'innocent until proven guilty'.

Is he inviting people to inform the police and say they were in a state of fear and alarm, which would indicate they would require to caution and charge the person and put a case to the Procurator Fiscal for consideration of legal proceedings?.

The man has been 'advised'.

By whom and just how did David Macdonald come by this 'privileged' information.

Macdonald claims he has known about this since September 2019 and only now in March 2020 has he spoken with the police.

We would have to suggest that his rant "I will not tolerate any individual attempting to intimidate or harass anybody who is dropping off or collecting children or staff at this facility" is at the very least ill judged, and at worst possible material for either a Civil Action of a Complaint to the Councillors Standards Commission.
