Anyway to start with real business.

During the community tax rise 'discussion' Cllr Caroline Bamforth decided to alert the full chamber to fact that she had undertaken a 'Google' search the previous evening.

She discovered that ERC were charging considerably less than if you lived down south. (England)

She then started to rime off the costs charged by some English councils, all of which were higher than the ERC proposed band 'D' rate.

She then went onto say that ERC were also substantially less than Scottish Councils and named Glasgow as one.

We also conducted a 'Google' search and looked at 19 of the 32 Scottish Councils.

We found 7 of the 19 (out of 32) had a lower band 'D' than East Renfrewshire Council.

We would have to suggest that the Cllr appears to have learned the art of spin in a very short period of time.

Then we have the embarrassing spectacle of a senior councillor not understanding the amendment he was talking about.

This Cllr was speaking to his paper and an amendment to it. Reading from his own notes he totally mixed up what it was all about and had to be corrected by the Clerk to the Committee at the request of the Provost.

Cllrs shouting across the chamber at each other throughout the meeting and the Provost had no control over them whatsover.
