Its not just Firefighters that Strathclyde Fire and Rescue employs. We have a broad range of jobs including strategic senior management positions, accountants, lawyers, surveyors, graphic designers, mechanics, medical professionals property managers communications and IT professionals and more.

Vital support functions are performed at our Headquarters and in the Area offices. This sort of work includes community fire safety, emergency planning, finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, as well as support roles in for example clerical, administrative and driving to name a few.

Requirements
In order to meet the job requirements of a firefighter, applicants must meet certain essential criteria such as be aged 18 years or over, meet the required health and physical fitness standards especially aerobic fitness and upper body strength, have a good standard of vision and colour perception. Applicants will need to demonstrate that they have the potential to carry out this challenging role through a rigorous recruitment process which includes a competency based application form, and selection tests which includes psychometric tests, fitness test, practical selection tests based on the practical elements of the role, an interview and a medical examination.
