Next up - 'No Parking'.

Cllr Miller said that a new build house should have two parking spaces, should that not be the same for these units.

Cllr Ireland who also should have a considerable knowledge of the area as a local ward Cllr, was sitting nodding away at every objection raised by the committee.

Directly adjacent to the site they wish to build on, is a roof top public car park?

This is where peeps are expected to park in order to access the shops on Busby Road, Clarkston.

Next to that is another public car park, just behind The Toll.

Guess what is on Busby Road directly outside the site of the proposed units.

The famous Council 'parklets' installed at the cost of many thousands of pounds.

The house and the garden to the right is where they wanted to build.

It looks to me like there are parking bays directly in front of this land.

Looks to me that there are parking bays all the way up towards the Sheddings roundabout.

Yet Cllrs Annette Ireland, Stewart Miller, Jim Swift, Betty Cunningham and Angela Convery say there is NO PARKING.

Chair Annette Ireland said "There are a lack of parking spaces at that area"

Cllr Betty Cunningham alluded to passing this house regularily and said it wis a wee hoose and she had no idea how they could fit four units into the small space.

Perhaps if the Cllr had looked at her papers she would have seen in the plans, that:-

There is a large garden to the right, left and rear of the property that forms the area they wished to develop.

Mr Miller was adament and insistent that a reason to object to the application was 'Built Heritage'.

Ms Ireland, as chair was happy to include that as an objection point.

However the reporter rejected that objection, and you will see why.

Is it to much to ask that our Cllrs on this committee understand their own Local Development Plan, or at least the chair Annette Ireland does.
