Next up - Compensation to the builder of in excess of £800,000 due to covid. Payed by ER tax payers to Heron Brothers.

Dont worry this was checked and confirmed as a good proposal by the consultant paid by ERC.

Lorraine McMillian says we should not worry as the consultant is world renowned.

£803k which is apparently 50% of the loss incurred by the builders who could not work during the early days of Covid.

It is claimed they lost cash due to not having staff working, and when they did go back, due to social distancing they could only have 50% of the workforce on site.

Did not send back the hired portacabins and heavy plant and had to pay the hire company which the plant was sitting unused, etc.

The Director said the company could take ERC to court and if they lost they would have to pay the court fees.

and it was positive if ERC paid, it would be good for the economy.

I have watched the webcast and one Cllr said "I understand you are splitting the cost with them, but what about Scottish Water"

Only to be told by the Chief Executive that payments were not made to Scottish Water, only to do with work that required to be undertaken to comply with Scottish Water regulations.

If the chair of the Audit & Scrutiny Committee is unable to read and fully understand the paper before him, or has not read it, what chance do we, the public have.

Should Stewart Miller (Independent), Chair of Audit & Scrutiny not have been more up to speed with the facts concerning the loss of £1.71 million.

Stewart Miller Independent Cllr

Incidently Cllr Miller (Independent) as the Chair of Audit & Scrutiny has the ability to order a 'call in' of the proposal and his Committee can examine the proposal.

Mr Miller receives an additional £2k per year to chair the committee.

However the chair of the committee is supposed to be the leader of the Conservative group of Cllrs, they currently do not have a leader.

So we have absolutely no viable opposition and it is believed by many that Mr Miller has gone over to the dark side, after allegedly leaving the Conservative Party when he was asked to take a diversity course and refused.
