At last weeks full Council meeting there was a discussion regarding this initiative.

SusTrans are providing £80k to ERC in order that they can pay the providers.

They will produce an 'app' that peeps will be asked to download onto their mobile telephones.

The initiative is designed to encourage peeps to use alternative transport to that of cars.

Use a bus, train, cycle or walk. Register every time you go out, also encourage local shops to get involved and when someone uses the app in their shop, to provide a free coffee or something else free, like a newspaper.

Cllr Swift had concerns regarding the clycle route through Giffnock and he said "Going through Giffnock is not a safe place for cyclists"

Cllr Grant asked if the council were not going to be 'tracking' residents. To which the Head of Planning said no one would be tracking, as all that would be received would be data.

However she did concede that she was unaware of how the system works.

She has lots of apps on her phone but does not think that they track.
