Resolution to Exclude Press and Public
It is recommended that the Committee pass the following resolution:-

"That under Section 50A(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, as amended, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act".

HEAD OF EDUCATION SERVICES – HOMOLOGATION OF SHORTLISTING ARRANGEMENTS

PURPOSE OF REPORT
1. The purpose of this report is to homologate the decision taken by those that attended the Appointments Committee meeting on 4 May 2021.

RECOMMENDATION
2. It is recommended that the Appointments Committee:

•Homologates the decision to short-leet two candidates from the applications received.

REPORT
3. The Appointments Committee for the Head of Education Services Provision and Resources took place on 4 May 2021.

4. The Appointments Committee comprises of five members: Councillor O’Kane (Chair), Councillor Buchanan, Councillor McLean, Councillor Merrick and Councillor Wallace and three members of the Committee are required for quorate and a decision to be reached.

5. Unfortunately on 4 May only 2 members of the Committee were able to attend for the short-leeting.

Supported by advisors to the panel it was agreed to go ahead with the short-leeting and take soundings from the other Committee members via email to allow the timeline for the assessment centre and interviews to be met.

6. Six applications were received and the short-leeting concluded that two candidates met the essential criteria in the person specification and should be taken forward to assessment centre.

Soundings from other Committee members were sought and this allowed the process to continue.

7. This report now asks that the Appointments Committee homologates the decision made for two candidates to proceed to assessment centre and interview.

According to the minutes 'the meeting was declared inquorate and no business transacted.'

Therefor NO DECISIONS WERE MADE ?

How can you Homologate decisions that were not made?

There is no mention of in the minutes of this agreement and the 'support' given by advisors -
