A NEW report has praised the council for holding onto its housing stock - but says there are still significant weaknesses in its services.
One area singled out for criticism was East Renfrewshire Council's 'weak' consultation with tenants over this year's rent increases.
The report was published by the Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR) - an independent body that regulates all social housing providers in the country.
As part of the inquiry, all aspects of housing services in the area were inspected - asset management strategy, planning, construction, investment, home safety, void properties, customers and performance management and development.
The report acknowledges the council has made "variable" progress but has a good awareness of where it needs to improve.
